The Last Letters from the Holocaust

Reading about the Last Letters from the Holocaust was very sad. It was very cool to see the point of views of the people that were involved in the Holocaust. A few things stuck out to me about these readings. Their seemed to be two common themes. The first theme was hopefulness and optimism. In the letters that I read, the writers had such high hope that they would make it out of the camp or ghetto. Some had very in depth plans on how they were going to escape and were fairly certain that they were going to escape. The second theme was sorrowfulness and goodbyes. When we did the partners in class, my partner had two letters that were very direct and got to the point about their fate. They were very heavy letters in such few words. They had so much emotion and you could feel the emotion as you were reading them. They were saying their goodbyes and it is filled with such sorrow.
